I use 'www -n' to convert from HTML to ASCII.

It runs from a perl script which:

o Retrieves titles from .html files and inserts them in references
(so you don't have to manually maintein titles in multiple places)
o Inserts a level-1 header with the text of the title in each .html file
o Packages related .html files (based on prefix) into one .txt file
o Uses 'a2ps' to create a postscript version of the .txt file
o Prepares an ftp script to upload the files to the server, including
any inlined local images.
