And if their answers came from the manual, they should ask the writer for
permission, and if the manual writer took some knowldge from AT&T we all
must ask AT&T ...

Seriuolsy, I think we must stop at some point asking for Copyright
permissions, otherwise we spend 95 % of our time in such things.

We could clearily state that all the information sent to us will be
used for the FAQ, and we {make, don't make} money from this (here
write what you want. I don't make money from FAQs), and WE shall
decide if the FAQ is to be published or not. I would also state that
every quote will be credited, but If somebody doesn't agree with the
fact I'm the one to decide whether the FAQ is to to be published or
not he/she will not send me its contribution.
Moreover, most of the answers come from USENET, and many many sites
make money from distributing USENET News. If people don't want their
opinion to be "sold" (again, I don't make money, but maybe Atlantis
Internet will), they shouldn't post at all.

My proposal: why don't we write a small document ("Contributing to
FAQs") to store all these info in? So I, newbie Internetter, can grab
it, read it and know what will happen if I do post something which
will be included in a FAQ. Things to write therein:

- Anyone is free to contribute to FAQs by sending mail to the
FAQ maintainer, or by posting on USENET;

- All FAQ maintainers give credit to contributors, either before/after
each quote, or in a separate section of the FAQ;

- The FAQ maintainer is the only person who will decide on publishing
requests, as long as he/she won't get money from this.

Bye,
