A few weeks ago, just before the latest discussion about copyrights got
started, I downloaded the apparently-unread archives at
ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/faq-maintainers/ . I separated all the articles
related to the copyright issue and stripped out the header information
except for the From: and Subject: lines, for a friend. The file is 10,000
lines long and covers the period from January through November 1994.
Since the F-M list is so small, I'd be glad to send a copy to anyone upon
request.

The previous discussions resulted in a deadlock without any legal action,
and many people unsubscribed due to the flames and heavy traffic, like
they are doing now. This seems like a good topic for a FAQ or, at least,
a summary of the different positions (pro, con, legal, ...), which could
be written from this archive collection (especially since we are repeating
ourselves). BTW, I recently noticed a parallel discussion going on in the
misc.legal.* and misc.int-property newsgroups.
