I agree that going to law is to be avoided if at all possible.

I suggest that our next step is to draft a note, signed by as many of us as
are concerned, giving particulars of the respects in which Walnut Creek has
violated copyright law and net ethics, recognizing their good net.citizenship
in other respects, and politely but firmly requesting that they change their
behavior.

I will volunteer my time to draft the non-legalese parts of the letter. I
hope the attorney who posted on the Berne Convention and copyright law will
contribute the legalese.

The least effect of this note will be to assert our rights so that we cannot
be deemed to have surrendered them via laches.
