I have not seen any of the postings myself,

One thing should be made clear: If you didn't see them, it's not
because they weren't posted in newsgroups you read; it's almost
certainly because they were cancelled so quickly that many people did
not see them.

Whether they have actually hit any
moderated groups was not reported.

Actually, one of the postings in news.admin.misc did specifically
mention that they hit rec.answers. However, like I said, the postings
were cancelled so quickly that most people didn't see them, and that
includes the scripts that archive and check *.answers on rtfm.mit.edu.
