You've misunderstood me.

I posted the FAQ without the #!/bin/sh wrapper.

The mistake I made was distributing the script I used to do the
posting (which started
#!/bin/sh
/usr/lib/news/inews -h <<'END-OF-FAQ-PORTION'

of course) as `linux-faq.ascii' on the various Linux FTP sites.

The guy who ran the script wasn't some clueless idiot. He should have
known better ...

Anyway, I've now uploaded a version where linux-faq.ascii is subtly
different from linux-faq.post (which I don't distribute).
