Although I promised to post the results of the poll I took N days ago,
I plain forgot about it. No big deal, right? :)
I counted all email which clearly attempted to "vote" in the matter in
response to my message in which I offered to take a poll. A little
bit of rejuggling categories to simplify reporting the results gives:
20 people preferred the pronunciation of the three letters; 23 people
preferred the pronunciation rhyming with "pack" or something fairly
close to it; 8 people use both with no particular preference; 2 people
use something which was pretty different (due to non-English native
language considerations).
No official import should be attached to these poll results,
considering it counted merely 15% of the faq-maintainers membership,
and that the membership is only a tiny subset of those who use the
term "FAQ" on the regular basis. The poll's results do indicate that
the break-down is pretty evenly split among those who did reply.
We now return you to your regular computing communications.
