I've been asked to adapt my FAQ sheet into a journal article.
I see two potential problems:
1) How do I acknowledge the contributors? I wrote about 80% of the FAQ, one
other person contributed about 10%, and the other 10% is scattered among
dozen's of people. The 10% contributor I can ask to be a co-author, but what
about all the others?
2) Copyright to the article will be assigned to the publisher (their rules,
not mine). Thus the copyright of the FAQ sheet would be held in part by me,
and in part by the publisher. Will this create a problem for electronic
distribution? Clearly I can post my own copyrighted words. But can you now
print and distribute words that belong to the publisher? I'll take this up
with the journal editor, but any advise would be appreciated
One plus.
Should anyone publish the FAQ sheet without permission in the future, I can
let the publisher's lawyers deal with it (:
