I would like to remind the subscribers to the faq-maintainers and
faq-maintainers-announce mailing lists that the latter is to be used
for announcements only. Several of the messages sent to it today have
been on the border of being "announcements", so I let them slide.
However, I can't construe the one I just saw as an announcement no
matter how hard I try.

Please send future messages in this discussion to faq-maintainers, not
faq-maintainers-announce. And, as the guidelines for faq-maintainers
and faq-maintainers-announce state, when you send an announcement to
faq-maintainers-announce, please be sure to format it in such a way
that replies will be directed to faq-maintainers (as this message is
formatted).
