The reason this is a big deal to me is that my FAQ basically consists
of a list of FTP sites. These FTP sites are in a constant state of flux --
new ones are added, old ones deleted or changed -- and I am hesitant to
commit them to any permanent media such as CD-ROM. I often get email
from people saying that such-and-such a site doesn't work, and when
I track down the problem, it's that they are using an old version of
the FAQ. (I always make sure to ask where they got their copy, so I
can ask the archive site to either delete the FAQ (they can keep a pointer
to a current copy) or commit to updating it at least once a month.)

A new version of the weather data FAQ is created every two weeks. For
example, the most recent version contains 6 additions, 1 removal, and
one name change (essentially a removal plus an addition) since the
previous version. So you can see, the information on the Walnut Creek
disk is already obsolete -- and that's just the most recent changes!

I did write to the Walnut Creek people explaining this, and giving them
my explicit permission to include a pointer to the ftp and http sites
where the FAQ is available.
