REVEALED THAT AFTER PICKING UP DEVINE IN JUNE HE HAD ADVISED THE ARMED FORCES GENERAL STAFF "THROUGH CHANNELS* THAT HE HAD DEVINE IN CUSTODY AND HAD ASKED FOR INSTRUCTIONS. CONTRERAS SAID HE RECEIVED AN ORDER IN RESPONSE STATING THAT HE SHOULD "DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION."

EVINE WAS REPORTEDLY PICKED UP BY CONTRERAS AFTCB 1HK GUATEMALAN MILITARY LEARNED DEVINE HADALIL FROM AN ENLISTED MAN WHO HAD DESERTED; CONTRERAS' MISSION WAS TO RECOVER THE WEAPON.

THE ORDER WHICH CONTRERAS RECEIVED MEANT THAT (BRAS WAS EXPECTED TO TO WHATEVER HE .gJ^IDERED NECESSARY TO RECOVER THE WEAPON. ^IJHIlBVB^BlB^BVBHbjBB^BB "THROUGH CHANNELS" MEANS CONTRERAS ADVISED THE GENERAL STAFF THAT HE HAD DEVINE IN CUSTODYAND RECEIVED THE ORDER BACK THROUGHHANNELS. ^BMBVbbB COLONEL CFSAR AUGUSTO -NITO* EJIA WAS THE DIRECTOR OF IN BUT THAT CABRERA WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE AUTHORITY TO ISSUE THE ORDER DESCRIBED BY CONTRERAS AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN PASSED ON BY CABRKRA FROM THE GENERAL STAFF.
