Comment: This is anothereries of reports which indicates that the Egyptians are getting assistance for their missile program from France, and casts doubt onew UAR-USSR missile aid agreement in which Soviet technicians are reported to be replacing Austrians and West Germans inUAR program. The Egyptians apparentlyormal French offer ln5 to take over complete direction of the UAR missile and aircraft programs, probably because it would have been too costly. Since then, UAR representatives have made several purchases of missile and electronic equipment from private French firms. Some

of these transactions were reported to be without license

and without the knowledge of the French Government.
