Source was told that the main force troops and militia had difficulty finding the pilot in the forest at ANH SON District. He was capturedocation far from the burning piano. The pilot was uninjured and wasistol when taken prisoner by the militia. He was oarried by vehicle to the DO LUONG District office and confined.

Source saw the pilot sittinghair,bareheaded and facing the orowd. An armed sentry guarded the pilot from the people who could possibly become angry and harm the prisoner. He was very young, aboutears of age, tall blond short hair, square face and eyes "brass color". Since the time of his capture the prisoner appeared calm and unafraid and kept chewing his

k/ chewing fun. The people believed he did not show any fear because he knew that the NVN Government would not condemn him.

li. The local authorities treated the prisoner well. Evidently the prisoner could not get used to the local rice food ration so he was givenood, soup and beer. People would come to view the prisoner out of curiosity and anger. The people complained that the prisoner was treated too well and given special food while they did. not have enough rice. Besides, the Americans had caused disaster to the NVN people and should absolutely not receive any favors.
