Source saw and spoke with one U. He was also eh appeared to be In good health, conducted through an accompa sending troops to SVN and state war in SVN.
Source saw. POW in the VINH LINH Aroa inhile infiltrating SVN. Source talked to the POW, and the three guards, and the interpreter accompanying the POW. All of the latter were headingortherly derection. The conreraation lasted for aboutinutes.
Source doesn't know the POW's name, and tho green fatigue the POW was wearing had no rank or Insignia on it. Source waslack and white picture of the POW's family by one of the guards. The picture showed the POW's wife and two sons (one boy appoard about to be about eoven years old, and the other boy (carried by his mother and nude) appeared about one year old).
The POW vaa not tied or blindfolded. He had blond hair, was over six feet tall and wae heavy (estimateilos) but not fat. The POW was wearing. boots; he had no scars, was not wounded, and appeared to be in good health and spirts. (The POW waa walking fast and singing when first observed by Source).
A. Source was told by one of the guards that the POW had been captured on
Nationaln SVN. Source and other members of his infiltration group were allowed to talk to the POW through ths interpreter) but wov> not allowed to ask questions obout the military situation in SVN. The POW answered their questions, and said: . people did not wan I', their sons to fight and die in SVN, and wero demonstrating against. Government; that he had received very good treatment since being captured; and that he (the POW) felt pity for the Vlotnamcse peoplo becauso of the manyhardships connected with the war, and their heroic action in trying to overcome these hardships.
One guard told Source that thero were. POW's in NVN, and another guard told Source that only "important" POW's were taken to NVN. Most GVN POWs wore kept in SVN, although some were taken to NVN.
The guards, interpreter, and the POW wero walking. Source has no information on POW camps in NVN, and has never heard about rewords for. POW's escape. Source did not know if. POW's ware kept together.
