C. SCHNEIDER GAVE THE ASSEMBLEDITUATION REPORT IN WHICH HE CLAIMED THAT THE GENERAL SITUATION WAS ACTUALLY NOT AS BAD AS IT HAD BEEN MADE TO APPEAR. THE GEN, IN STRONG TERMS REITERATED HIS POSITION ON THE ROLE OF THE ARMY IN MATTERSOLITICAL OR CONSTITUTIONAL CHARACTER, MAKING IT CLEAR THAT HIS POSITION ON THE ADVISABILITY OF ARMED FORCES ABSTENTION
