CHILE: Referendum on UN Action

Chilean President Pinochet saidroadoaet ad-dreBSlast night that he would submitational referendum the recent Ull General Assembly resolution condemning hiegovernment for human rights violations.

The announcement of such an extraordinary step,passage of the UN reeoluticn last Friday, is the latest sign of Pinochet's irritation over continued foreign criticism of Chile's human right- performance. The Chileans have also made strong diplomatic representations to the US over its joint sponsorship of the resolution.
