The Chilean Supreme Court yesterday rejected the US request for extradition of three Chilean securitywanted for, the murder of Orlando Letelier. The court may plan to recommendocal military court investigate the activities of'the Chilean security agency. Preliminary press reports do not mention this recommendation, but the court,may believe it should be announced separately from the extradition ruling. the final disposition of!the case. Presidentis said to be optimistic that the regime can weather foreign and domestic criticism.
