USSR: May Day Slogans

Day slogans this year reiterate the majorof the recent Soviet party congress. Theof the detente theme, which was dropped frost the Revolution Day slogana list last November, indicates that th* Soviets want either to keep the door open for talks with the US or to place the onus for failure of detente on the west. Soviet concern over Sino-US cooperation surfacedew phrase citing "the collusion between imperialism and hegemoniam"egative factor in Asian security. Although Poland was not directly mentioned, the greetings to fraternal "socialist" countriesphrase on the USSR's "unshakable determination to defend socialism'schoing President Brezhnev's remarks on Poland at the congress.
