POLANDi Central Committee Plenum

Preliminary reports from the Central Committee plenum yesterday indicate that tha party will continue its'rhetoric against Solidarity and is determined toat least some future street demonstrations. The party leadership, as First Secretary Kania's speech is particularly concerned about the march next week on Warsaw to protest the holding of political pris-- oners and is making preparations to prevent it.

The national leadership of Solidarity, meanwhile, extended its deliberations in Gdansk through today, demonstrating it is having difficulty formulatingthat will preserve its credibility with the rank and file while leaving it the flexibility to negotiate with tha regime. Some speakers reportedly argued that strikes over food supplies, like those of recent weeks, are futile and that the union should concentrate its efforts on eliminating the causes of. the shortages. mV.
