Saudi Diplomat Assassinated

Riyadh it concerned that the assassinationaudi diplomat in Ankara onctober may be tbe opening roundhi'a terrorbt campaign targeting Saudi officiali and facilities. Two pro-Iranianoup* claimed responsibility for Ihe attack: the Islamic Jihad of the Hijaz and the lilamic Jihad Anson Husayn Kurdistan Unit. Turkish and Saudi authorities have neither uncovered the identity of the assassin, nor have (hey confirmed his affiliation. They suspect, however, that (be attack was in retaliation for the execution in September in Saudi Arabia of four Saudi Shi'a saboteurs. The four were convicted of placing bombs In Saudi oil facilities in early androup calling itself Hizballah of the Hijaz claimed responsibility for tbe bombings: immediately after the executions, the same group issued communiques in Beirut and Tehran threatening reprisal*

We suspect that the groups claiming responsibility for the assassinationumber of names interchangeably, including "Hiiballah of the Hijaz" and "Islamic Jihad of theo evidence has appeared, however, that Hizballah of the Hijazunctioning organization inside Saudi Arabia.
