Array Mission In Guatemala during the period fromarch toan add very little since ray contact with that mission was extremely limited. id have occasional contact with Colonel Thomas Ranford, tho former Chief of the Military Mission, and in all cases found him very desirous of aiding but unable to give much information, apparently because the Guatemalan Army officers seerond to be unwilling or afraid to associate with him. Colonel HANFORD, however, seemed to be well liked personally and highly regarded by those Army officers withave conversed since hla.

2. now that the Ambassador was not satisfied with the Intelligence which he received,elieve thatwasf tho opinion that circumstances beyond tho control of Colonel Hanford decisively influenced his apparent inability to produce valuable intelligence information.
