JOHN L. HKLGERSON
Mr. Hclgerson was nominated by President George Bush and confirmed by Ihe US Senate as CIA's third statutory Inspector General inn his previous assignments, he served as Chairman of the Intelligence Community's National Intelligence Council and Deputy Director of the National Imagery and Mapping Agency.
Mr. Helgerson began his govemmcnl career as an analyst in the Central Intelligence Agency. At varying points he headed units responsible for coverage ofrope. Africa,at in America. Mr. Helgersonurnta of senior management posts at CIA, including four years as Deputy Director for Intelligence. He also served as CIA's Direclor of Congressional Affairs.
A native of South Dakota. Mr. Hclgerson graduated from Saint Olaf College in Northficld. Minnesota and received. and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He has servedesearch Affiliate al the University of Zambia in Lusaka, Zambia. Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, and Counselor for Program Coordination at the US Embassy in London.
