POWER TRAIN - AXLE ASSEMBLY
02/01/2003619432
Dt: the consumer stated that the rear axel was too small for the weight of the motor home. refer to recall campaign #91v061000. there had been two failures of the axle. in both cases the vehicle's owner had the repairs completed on the existing axel at their own expense. the axel that remained the same was the original from the manufacturer. the axel had not been completely replaced due to the expensive cost. the remedy in the recall indicated that the full rear axel assembly should be replaced. this could not be done because gardner pacific was no longer in business. the current owner purchased this vehicle in 1998 and does not know whether or not the original owner received a recall notice.
