A Chinese woman Americanized in suburbia Scarsdale, NY now loves the once scorned Chinese cuisine, especially the foods prepared for The New Year. Recipes include Yearly Surplus, which is a red fish dish, supreme hot pot, a soup with chicken dumplings and pork rolls, and a chestnut-chicken dish.

Moosewood Restaurant was founded in 1972 as a community project by 17 people who wanted to produce food that was simple, healthful and fresh. All 14 current employees share duties and several cookbooks have been published. The employees often hold community benefits.
