Article Abstract:

Tombaugh was an amateur astronomer, but his star-gazing grouped with the work of astrophysicists Schwarzschild and Spitzer, and geologist Shoemaker covered the universality of workers in astronomy in the 20th century. Highlights of their accomplishments are discussed.

The citizens of Winnipeg, Manitoba, banded together in 1990 to clean up its beloved Seine River. The body of water, which traverses Winnipeg for 21 kilometers, was heavily polluted by garbage and sewage before the initiative.
