Low Rates

Article Abstract:

There has been a wave of discount brokerage offers. Now two discount brokers will decrease rates on certain markets to less than fifteen dollars. While this will decrease profit margins, many new accounts are expected to be attracted. Lind-Waldcock, the biggest discount operation, offered a nine dollar rate on gold trades in their November advertising. This is a costly promotion for the firm, as the normal rates for day trade are twenty-five dollars. Other brokers disdain this grocery store merchandising, as they term it, in their industry.
