US court tests the breadth of patent protection on proteins

Biotechnology firm Amgen is suing Transkaryotic Therapies (TKT), claiming infringement of a number of patents on its anti-anaemia drug Epogen. TKT researchers have identified an alternative way to produce erythropoietin, the hormone which encourages the production of red blood cells.

Spitzer sues drug giant for deceiving doctors
