Article Abstract:

A country's affluence depends partly on its institutions, as the usual view is that differences in national wealth arise from differences in the accumulation of physical and social capital and in the adoption of new technology. The conclusion suggest that the best way to help poor countries is to assist them in developing good institutions such as the rule of law, honest, efficient government and protection of investorEs property.

Article Abstract:

The origins of major human infectious diseases and the relative importance of domestic animals and wild primates as sources of tropical and temperate diseases are discussed. An initiative for resolving disputed origins of major diseases and a global early warning system in order to monitor the pathogens infecting individuals exposed to wild animals is proposed.
