The ins and outs of drug transport

Article Abstract:

The Multidrug transporters (MDTs) are membrane proteins found everywhere which detect and remove a wide range of compounds from the cells in an energy dependent, however, making the cell resistant to it might cause a major problem when treating patients with infectious disease or cancer with these drugs. The structure of transporter AcrB that utilizes the energy of the Tran membrane proton gradient and the structure of Sav1866 that gets its power from the ATP molecules breakdown is presented.
