The detection of carbonation by the Drosophila gustatory system

Article Abstract:

A combination of anatomical, calcium imaging and behavioral approaches are used for identifying a population of taste neurons that detects C[O.sub.2] and mediates taste acceptance behavior in the Drosophila melanogaster. The C[O.sub.2] detection by the olfactory system has mediated avoidance and C[O.sub.2] detection by the gustatory system has mediated acceptance behavior, indicating that the context of C[O.sub.2] has determined appropriated behavior.

Distortion of proximodistal information causes JNK-dependent apoptosis in Drosophila wing

Article Abstract:

Decreased Decapentaplegic (Dpp) signalling in the distal wing cells or increased Dpp signalling in the proximal wing cells leads to apoptosis in the Drosophila wing. Upregulation of the Dpp signal in the proximal wing or downregulation of the Dpp signal in the distal wing prompts c-Jun amino-terminal kinsase-mediated apoptosis. Ablation of cells by apoptosis could be an effective way of restoring and maintaining the normal process of wing development.

Dependence of Drosophila wing imaginal disc cytonemes on decapentaplegic

Article Abstract:

A study is conduced to show that in the wing disc of the Drosophila, cytonemes orient towards both the anterior/posterior and dorsal/ventral organizers, and that their presence and orientation correlates with decapentaplegic (Dpp). It is also shown that the Dpp receptor, Thickveins, is present in puntae that move along cytonemes.
