Sensitivity gains in chemosensing by lasing action in organic polymers

Article Abstract:

A study reports that attenuated lasing in optically pumped semiconducting organic polymers (SOP) thin films displays a sensitivity to vapors of explosives more than 30 times higher than is observed from spontaneous emission. The results of the study shows that the induced cessation of the lasing action, and associated sensitivity enhancement, is pronounced when films are pumped at intensities near their lasing threshold.

Control of conformational and interpolymer effects in conjugated polymers

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the control of interactions between polymers through the use of poly(p-phenylene-ethynylene) Langmuir films as a surfactant. The changes occurring in the Langmuir monolayers are discussed.
