Seismological evidence for mosaic structure of the surface of the Earth's inner core
Article Abstract:
Properties of waves precritically reflected from the Earth's inner core (PKiKP phases) is analyzed that demonstrate significant variability in amplitude, consistent high-frequency content and stable travel times with respect to a standard Earth model. The transition from the Earth's solid inner core to liquid outer core is the location where the inner core grows and from which compositional convection in the outer core originates.

Discovery of a planet orbiting a binary star system from gravitational microlensing
Article Abstract:
Observations and modelling of the gravitational microlensing event MACHO-97-BLG-41 are reported. The lens system is inferred to comprise a planet of around three Jupiter masses orbiting a binary stellar system comprising a late-K dwarf star and an M dwarf. It is suggested that such planets may be common.

Discovery of a cool planet of 5.5 earth masses through gravitational microlensing
Article Abstract:
The discovery of a 5.5 M planetary companion through gravitational microlensing, which is named as OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb, is reported. The detection of the planet suggests that such cool, sub-Neptune-mass planets might be more common than gas giant planets, as predicted by the core accretion theory.
