Article Abstract:
It has been possible to characterize a bacterial protein that slows signals leading to disruption of cellular architecture. This permits the host cell to recover its form, benefiting both the host cell and the microbe. It was found that Salmonella injects a protein into host cells that boosts the rate at which proteins regulating host cell shape turn off. In this way, there is bacterial control of both the disruption and restoration of cellular architecture.
