X-rays reveal heart of darkness

Article Abstract:

Japanese researchers have provided compelling evidence that the dark matter found in the Fornax cluster of galaxies is clustered on two distinct scalea. A modeled of X-ray gas emissions measured by the Advanced Satellite for Cosmology and Astrophysics showed two distinct components on deviating scales, one linked to the cluster as a whole and the other forming part of the giant galaxy. The evidence points to a hierarchical distribution of dark matter.

A 120-Mpc periodicity in the three-dimensional distribution of galaxy superclusters

Article Abstract:

Galaxy superclusters and voids form a quasi-regular three-dimensional network whose high-density areas are separated by (infinity) 120Mpc. This finding was based on Abell's new compilation of available data on galaxy clusters. Contrary to the common notion that large-scale structures in the Universe are randomly distributed, data reveal that luminous matter in galaxy clusters is regularly distributed.
