Long-term trends in mule deer pregnancy and fetal rates in Colorado

Article Abstract:

The pregnancy and fetal production rates of mule deer in Colorado, U.S. are examined to identify the cause of low December fawn:doe (f:d) ratios. Failure to breed or maintain pregnancy through early January or early February does not appear to be the case of low f:d ratios observed in Colorado.

Reduction and maintenance of a white-tailed deer herd in central Massachusetts

Article Abstract:

Results of a large-scale controlled hunt at Quabbin Reservation in central Massachusetts is presented demonstrating that controlled public deer hunts can effectively reduce deer populations and maintain them at desired levels over large areas with minimal hunter restrictions.
