Learning to mentor

Article Abstract:

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology has developed an informal checklist to offer a guide to mentors and students. Some of the basic steps for mentors included are becoming familiar with available opportunities, reviewing individual development (IDP), and establishing regular review of progress.

Gene sequencing of soil samples might be the only answer for growing soil microbes, as it cannot be grown in laboratory cultures. The sequencing of soil genomes might shed some light on how microbial communities drive the ecological processes of a region.
