Leapfrog birds

Article Abstract:

Two unrelated groups of Australian and New Guinean rainforest birds, the sooty owls and log runners that appear to have evolved identical leapfrog distributions are examined. Evolutionary biologists used DNA sequences, which provide a record of species evolutionary history and evidence for how closely related different species and population are.

Turning turtle

Article Abstract:

The northern long-necked turtle known as chelodina rugosa is endowed with an extremely long neck that enables it to strike swiftly at fish and fast-moving invertebrates. They are found in the slow-flowing rivers and wetlands of northern Australia.
