Article Abstract:
The first genetic documentation of hybridization between a resident and invading Orconectes Crayfish is studied using morphological and allozyme comparisons of crayfish from allopatric and sympatric populations. The results show that the genetic mechanisms play a major role in the extirpation of O.propinquus by O.rusticus and are consistent with observations of other researchers suggesting that hybridization with non-native species is common among crayfishes at many locations.

Article Abstract:
Woodpecker diversity shows a negative correlation with urbanization in a study of 20 central European countries. Treating woodpecker diversity as an indicator of biodiversity, a causal link is supported between biodiversity declines and landscape degradation associated with technological development. Woodpecker species that depend on temperate forests are especially vulnerable to human-generated ecological changes.

Article Abstract:
Invasive species are the subset of nonindigenous species, which cause economic and environmental damage. A lot of misunderstanding and tension is prevailing regarding the science, values, environmental ethics, and public policy relevant to invasive species and the development of widely applicable risk-assessment protocol is a major challenge.
