Genome sequence, comparative analysis and haplotype structure of the domestic dog
Article Abstract:
The domestic dog (Canis familiaris) has unique breeding history, which provides an excellent opportunity to explore genetic basis of disease, morphological and physiological behavioral traits. The study reports a high quality draft genome sequence of the dog, together with a dense map of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) whose analysis shows the long range haplotype structure and defines the nature of genetic diversity within and across breeds.

DNA sequence and analysis of human chromosome 8
Article Abstract:
A finished sequence and gene catalogue for the chromosome, which represents just over 5 per cent of the euchromatic human genome, is described. Since the majority of the genes in the region of high divergence in distal 8p play important roles in development or signaling in the nervous system, the data from chromosome 8 should allow a better understanding of both normal and disease biology and genome evolution.

Genome-wide maps of chromatin state in pluripotent and lineage-committed cells
Article Abstract:
Single-molecule-based sequencing technology is used for high-throughput profiling of histone modifications in mammalian cells. It is shown that chromatin state can be read in an allele-specific manner by using single nucleotide polymorphisms and a framework is presented for the application of chromatin profiling towards characterization of diverse mammalian cell populations.
