Article Abstract:

The precious bones of a miniature hominin are returned to the original scientists who had discovered them after several disputes with a competing scientist. The move is viewed as a victory by the discovery team but some samples are yet to be returned and a quarrel over whether the find really represents a new species continues to haunt the researchers.

Tequila makers brought the latest science to the agricultural process to save the blue agave from the disease and pests. The oldest and biggest producers are employing scientists, building high-tech laboratories and funding academic research on the blue agave so that researchers from biochemists to geneticists can scrutinize the plant.

Push to protect whales leaves seafloor research high and dry

The airguns used by the researchers, discharge a sharp bust of compressed air into the oceans to generate sound waves, which help to map rock formations deep under the ocean floor. These devices are described to be harmful to marine mammals.
