Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of an unverified index (auditory counts) in estimation of breeding populations of white-winged doves (Zenaida asiatica) in Texas, USA is assessed. The findings did not support the premise that the number of doves calling reflects dove abundance and while an electronic counter is likely to be more reliable than auditory counts both are limited in their effectiveness and alternative survey methods need to be investigated.

Article Abstract:
The dynamics of carcass and digestive tract components during winter were investigated to help access the ability of lower Texas coast, USA in order to support wintering populations of the northern pintails (Anas acuta). Pintails relied more on endogenous lipid and protein reserves during winter of a dry year than a normal to wet year.

Article Abstract:
The wintering habitat of northern pintails in the gulf coast and adjacent prairies of Texas are declining due to decreasing rice production and changes in land use. A study of the diet of these pintails was conducted and compared to that of the pintails in freshwater habitats, as very few studies are based on their diet.
