Correlation between Arabian Sea and Greenland climate oscillations of the past 110,000 years

Article Abstract:

Records from the northwestern Indian Ocean indicate that the rapid Dansgaard-Oeschger- and Heinrich-style events seen in Greenland and the northern North Atlantic are also an important element of low-latitude climate fluctuation during the past 110,000 years. This is because of millennial to centennial variations in the intensity of southwest monsoonal circulation. This research identified laminated, organic-carbon-rich bands in sediment cores from the northeaster Arabian Sea. These correlate with the mild interstadial climate events in the northern North Atlantic area.

Impacts of orbital forcing and atmospheric carbon dioxide on Miocene ice-sheet expansion

Article Abstract:

High-resolution climate proxy records, covering the period from 14.7 to 12.7 million years ago, from two complete sediment cores from the northwest and southeast subtropical Pacific Ocean is presented. The thermal isolation of Antarctica played a role in providing sustained long-term climate boundary conditions propitious for ice-sheet formation.

Orbital forcing of Cretaceous river discharge in tropical Africa and ocean response

Article Abstract:

A Cretaceous records of geo-chemical tracers for freshwater runoff that is incurred from Ivory Coast indicating alternating periods of tropical African climate driven by orbital precession is presented. It is concluded that, the oceans off tropical continental margins respond immediately even to the slightest changes in river discharge.
