Coasting out of Africa

Article Abstract:

Although it is well accepted that human origins lie in Africa, the routes and timing of migrations out of Africa remain controversial. New evidence of coastal dwelling during the last interglacial period suggests that homo sapiens may have left the African homelands earlier than previously believed.

Manual dexterity in Neanderthals

Article Abstract:

The likely extent of the Neanderthal thumb function is investigated. It is found that the digits could make tip-to-tip contact, thus leading to a conclusion that manual dexterity in Neanderthals was probably not significantly different from that of modern humans.

Those elusive neanderthals
