Article Abstract:
Israel Dostrovsky, head of the solar energy programme at Weizmann Institute, Israel, wants to develop a solar energy system which will supply electricity to the whole country, replacing oil. But such a system would require the solar energy to be stored and transported. Moshe Levy, a Weizmann scientist, has developed an endothermic reaction in which the solar energy can be stored in a carbon monoxide and hydrogen mixture which can be transported and later recovered through a catalyst. Solar energy can also be used to provide cheap energy to make de-salination of sea water a viable project.

Article Abstract:
Scientific cooperation between Israel and its neighbouring Arab states has helped the peace process by removing the political barriers between the countries. However, many Arab scientists feel that Israeli universities should allow Arabs to study there so that the scientific cooperation is not by Israel scientists and Arab technicians. But according to Hanoch Gutfreund, president of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel does not have the resources to do so.
