A molecular framework for light and gibberellin control of cell elongation

Article Abstract:

The importance of the Arabidopsis thaliana nuclear transcription factor, PIF4 (phytochrome interacting factor 4) in controlling the genes mediating cell elongation is presented. The findings show that the plants utilize light, as well as the gibberellin signals to vary the growth according to the environmental changes.

Gibberellin insensitive dwarf1 encodes a soluble receptor for gibberellin

Article Abstract:

The isolation and characterization of a new gibberellin-insensitive dwarf mutant of rice, gid1 is reported. The GID1 encodes an unknown protein with similarity to the hormone-sensitive lipases and a preferential localization of a GID1-green fluorescent protein (GFP) signal is observed in nuclei.

The article discusses the importance of light and gibberellins (GAs) on mediating the development of Arabidopsis thaliana. The findings prove that the GA signaling is activated only when the GA molecules are sensed by the nuclear proteins.
