A freely diffusible form of Sonic hedgehog mediates long-range signalling

Article Abstract:

Evidence is presented for a freely diffusible form of Sonic hedgehog that is multimeric, cholesterol modified and biologically potent. It is shown that the native form's availability is regulated by two functional antagonists of the Sonic hedgehog pathway.
