A comparative approach to vocal learning: intraspecific variation in the learning process

Article Abstract:

Genetic variation in white-crowned sparrow underlies variation of many elements of vocal behavioral development. This is important considering that learned behavior, such as oscine birdsong, tends to dismiss the contribution of genetic variation to developmental plasticity. Such song differences may be the genetic result of the evolutionary need to develop distinct songs in different areas due to similar songs from other birds,amongst other possible factors.

Prey plumage adaptation against falcon attack

Article Abstract:

The selective nature of the peregrine falcon pigeon's, choice of prey and the effect of plumage coloration on the survival of feral pigeons with the help of quantitative field observations and experiments is demonstrated. A study on the plumage types, suggested that although the pigeon plumage polymorphism persists, falcon predation pressure could lead to an increase in the relative proportion of the wild pigeon phenotype.

Our chimpanzee mind

Article Abstract:

Publication of chimpanzee genome reveals that human being share some mental functions as well as a good deal of DNA with chimpanzee. Although, the behavioral repertoire of the chimpanzee is more like human than any other species, the psychological mechanism underlying chimpanzee behavior seems to be largely shared with other species.
