A chromatin link that couples cell division to root epidermis patterning in Arabidopsis
Article Abstract:
The homeobox GLABRA2 (GL2)-expression modulator (GEM) is identified as an interactor of CDT1, a DNA replication protein. It is shown that GEM participates in the maintenance of the repressor histone H3K9 methylation status of root patterning genes, thus providing a link between cell division, fate and differentiation during Arabidopsis root development.

A RhoGDP dissociation inhibitor spatially regulates growth in root hair cells
Article Abstract:
Proteins that spatially control the sites at which cell growth occurs by isolating Arabidopsis mutants that develop ectopic sites of growth on trichoblasts are identified. SCN1 is cloned to show that SCN1 is a RhoGTPase GDP dissociation inhibitor (RhoGDI) that spatially restricts the sites of growth to a single point on the trichoblast.

A cell surface receptor mediates extracellular Ca (super)2+ sensing in guard cells
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on Arabidopsis complementary DNA clone which encodes Ca (super)2+ -sensing receptor. The authors have isolated this clone via the use of the functional screening assay in mammalian cells, and they report that this receptor exhibits low-affinity/high-capacity Ca (super)2+ binding.
