Article Abstract:
The lack of activity in the V5 region of brain in response to visual motion is an indicator of developmental dyslexia. The V5 region is present lateral to the prestriate cortex at the junction of the temporal and occipital lobes. Functional magnetic resonance imaging of dyslexic individuals with phonological problems shows that V5 fails to activate. The relationship between phonological and visual defects suggests that the defective visual motion preception indicates a cognitive defect that affects all brain activities.
