Residents of Anchorage, AK, now watch Mount Spurr more closely after a series of volcanic eruptions took place. The first eruption spewed ashes in the air in Jun 1992. In Aug 1992, the second eruption closed four airports and engulfed the city in an ash-dark cloud.

Who's afraid of the big brown bear?

Article Abstract:

A 10-year-old Alaskan girl recounts her experience with a brown bear in the Unuk Valley while picking berries with her mother. The near-attack proved to be uneventful, fortunately, as her mother was able to shoot the animal.
